Maybe relevant: take a look at the widget-scene newcomer, Microsoft
Gadgets (http://microsoftgadgets.com/). Currently, RSS format is used
as the baseline manifest declaration:

Seems like a good fit for an XHTML/microformat. I get confused trying
to grasp why people think that reinventing XHTML tags and attributes
(such as <link binding:type="css"> instead of <link rel="stylesheet"
.. > ) in XML is better than just using XHTML.
