[uf-discuss] rel-payment used for purchasing?

Hello,
I just wanted to get some clarification on the semantics behind rel-payment.
So... correct me if I am wrong.
Reading the relpayment-research page
<http://microformats.org/wiki/relpayment-research>, it looks like
rel-payment is meant to "pay" for something that you can get for free.
It's llike a "tip" basically. (At least that's how it comes off to me
when I read it.)
So here's my problem. Alot of times, there's a product (like a book,
a t-shirt, a ticket to a hockey game, etc) or a service (like a
membership to a gym, a membership to a IPTV channel, etc) that you get
a "preview" for, on some page. Now, on that preview page, there's a
link to make the purchase of the product or service.
Should that link be marked with rel-payment?
(Or should I just use some other non-Microformat semantic HTML; a made
up "rel" value or values. Maybe even splitting up the concept of
"buying a product" and "buying a membership... that eventually
expires and needs to be renewed".)
See ya
