- Overview
- During the opening keynote at the Mix06 conference this past March, Tim O'Reilly engaged Bill Gates in a discussion about microformats. During that conversation, Bill Gates specifically noted that we need microformats for contacts, events, and other data types. http://microformats.org/blog/2006/03/20/bill-gates-at-mix06-we-need-microformats . The first of those two have been well defined by hCard and hCalendar microformats. Web applications that bear these microformats make themselves available for integration with other web applications and web clients. The goal of this BoF is to bring together open source developers working on applications that produce and consume data on the web, discuss the open source libraries and examples that use microformats and brainstorm on new microformat applications.
