rel=discussion is proposed method for linking from a document to a place where there is discussion about the document.
Publishers
In a document that has a specific venue for discussion (e.g. web forum, email archives, IRC channel), the hyperlink from the document to the venue for discussion should be marked up with the rel
value discussion
.
Examples:
- W3C spec which links to the email list archives where the spec is discussed
- Mediawiki pages which link to their Talk pages
Consumers
Browsers that detect a rel=discussion hyperlink in a page can implement a UI for navigating from that page to the discussion about it with a "View Discussion" menu/command.
