The book-info microformat

In discussions about the hReview microformat, it has been suggested that it would be useful to have a book-info format to markup book metadata. This page is dedicated to developing such a format. The book-info-examples page has examples of pages that present book information, particularly reviews.

Book metadata

Information about a book commonly includes:

  • book title
  • book author - see hCard
  • book editor(s) - see hCard
  • book translator - see hCard
  • classification (e.g. fiction, non-fiction)
  • cover thumbnail
  • price - see proposed currency microformat
  • publisher - see hCard
  • date of publication
  • number of pages
  • ISBN
