Andy,

you can try using http://friedcellcollective.net/pingerator/

I made it in an hour and it probably doesn't work in every browser out 
there. I think it works on Firefox 1.5 and IE6, I can't test on others 
since I'm on my WinXP laptop...

If anyone spots a bug you have my email :)
