I'm a Ph.D. student in Human Computer Interaction at Virginia Tech. I've been playing with microformats on my own site and in a few side projects I'm working on. As part of my research, we are exploring the idea of creating a microformat for syllabi on the Web.

The syllabus ([http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syllabus Wikipedia] - [http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/syllabus Wiktionary] is a very common document used in possibly millions of courses in higher education in the United States and other countries. However, there are no standardized data models or formats for the syllabus, which makes syllabus construction, editing, discovery, sharing, and syndication extremely difficult.
