New page

I am a veterinarian (companion animal emergency & critical-care) and biomedical informaticist.

My current work is in the realms of grid computing, semantic interoperability, development of biomedical ontologies, service-oriented architecture, federated health information exchanges, open standards and open source development, and the integration of decision support tools into clinical information systems (including health records).

I am interested in species and breed related ontologies for use in developing standards related to clinical as well as life science informatics (i.e. translational medicine); especially regarding mitigating gaps present in human-centric healthcare standards (e.g. HL7) for use in veterinary medicine.
