== O que são Microformats? ==

Microformats é uma forma simples de adicionar marcas para interpretação humana de diferentes tipos de informação como por exemplo eventos, detalhes de contactos ou localizações, em páginas web, de forma a que a informação aí contida possa ser extraída por software para ser indexada, pesquisada, guardada, referenciada ou combinada.

De uma forma mais técnica, são items ou marcas semânticas que recorrem apenas ao standard "plain old semantic (X)HTML" (i.e. "[[POSH]]") através de um conjunto de [[class-names]] comuns e valores do atributo "[[rel]]". São um formato aberto e estão disponíveis de forma gratuita para todos.

Porque é que nós aparecemos com os microformats?

Em suma, os microformats são a convergência de um conjunto de tendências:
