Microformats: Data Formats That Put Humans First
One of several microformats events/presentations.
Summary
From the Mix07 Sessions page:
Go deep on microformats. Designed for humans first and machines second, microformats are a set of simple, open data formats built upon existing and widely adopted standards. Instead of throwing away what works today, microformats intend to solve simpler problems first by adapting to current behaviors and usage patterns (e.g., XHTML, blogging).

Session Comments and Q&A
- Q: Is there a format for project management?
- A: There is hCalendar which is good for representing events relating to project management, in addition, there is the VTODO object in RFC2445 iCalendar, and there has been some discussion about trying to base a to-do-format on that. See to-do-examples, to-do-brainstorming.
- ...
- Q: How would you create a format to represent blood glucose level measurements. The devices that do that now are all proprietary and it is not possible to move that data around.
- A: Start with trying to find examples in the wild. Perhaps document them, and see if there are common elements. Perhaps hCalendar can be used for the event of the measurement, hCard for who is being measured.
- Q: Where are the validators? Any .NET? Any work to standardize the parsing? -KevMoo
