A compound [[microformats|microformat]] is an XHTML rendition of a common data type, built from [[ElementalMicroformat|elemental microformats]] and standard XHTML elements. It is designed to be incorporated within webpages, and often is an exact mapping of an existing standardised schema that describes a compound data type.
