Breadcrumb trails (AKA breadcrumbs) are a navigational aid that provide users context for the current page within the site’s hierarchy. E.g. a page for "boots" might have breadcrumbs like:

ACME » Fashion » Women » Boots

Where each of the terms before "Boots" is a link to that broader page on the site.

This page is for keeping track of the effort to develop a simple vocabulary for marking up breadcrumbs on a site.
