[uf-discuss] How to Announce the Availability of New Media Content with uf?

A ping server... yeah that's what the del.icio.us works as in my proposal.

The problem I'm trying to solve is that currently online musicians have
to post, at umpteen online forums, announcements that a new song or
album is available. And even then it gets missed by the majority of
other musicians. It probably doesn't make sense, unless you
participated in the forums at MP3.COM where every new song was met with
eager anticipation, comments, suggestions, etc... and listeners. By
creating a global music genre-specific RSS feed and some type of
discovery mechanism with uf's (or not) I was hoping to aggregate these
helpfully without creating new community.

Could you give me examples of functioning ping servers and the
community/purposes they serve?
