Ok, ok
We're at cross purposes
We can provide next and previous links to both schedule day and week
views ~ no problem

http://www.plasticbag.org/files/misc/pips_etech.pdf
Is a link to the etech slides for pips (the Programme Information
Platform designed by mssrs biddulph, coates and bell)
This is the database which bbc programme sites are/will be built on
It goes into a little detail about an episode centric design

So
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/clareinthecommunity/pip/fjezd/
Could be
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/clareinthecommunity/20070108/
Or
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/clareinthecommunity/2007/01/08/
Or etc

But an episode can have many broadcasts (including cross-network
repeats):
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbc7/clareinthecommunity/2007/02/09/
Could be the same episode

Hence the use of
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/clareinthecommunity/pip/fjezd/
As the canonical url for an episode
In time the same resource may be addressable through broadcasts
instances but we're not there yet

Believe me, I've been having this conversation in meetings, down the
pub, on fags breaks for 3 years now. And you really can't move around
here for uri obsessives. When it looks bad it's not cos we're not trying
~ just blame the data
