One of the potential use-cases for several microformats is to indicate
text which should not be translated into other languages, such as:

  # Proper names of people, organisations, places, bands, etc.

  #     Honorific titles

  #     Postal addresses

  # the scientific names of living things

I've set up a page to document this, with some examples:

        <http://microformats.org/wiki/content-translation>

We might even consider a separate microformat for other text which
should not be translated, such as "teacher, teacher" in:

        The Great Tit, Parus major, has a song that sounds like
        "teacher, teacher"

(or maybe that should just be a style, or element, in HTML5).
