--- Do you have a reference for "Huge amount", what source and what is
leading you to that assumption? It would be good to clear-up any
mis-understanding and incorrect assumptions.

--- You can use any value as a UID, you yourself found the urn example
on the wiki. You shouldn't assume that just because no one says
anything contrary, that it is the only way encode a UID. Simply ask
"Does a UID have to be a URL?" The wiki already gives example counter
to this. If you feel this is a confusing point that others might have,
please add it to the wiki as an FAQ. Then we can all iterate on the
answer.
