Brian, I think is a very important clarification that may not be obvious to everyone from reading the hCard/vCard docs. Could you add your answer and explanation to the hCard FAQ?

Pérez</span></span>
Because N has several sub-properties, you can order those in any way
that you want. FN will take the string as they are ordered in the
HTML, but N will re-order them as needed.
The same applies to addresses as well.
