Microformats Search

For many of you this is old news, but I just wanted to make sure everything’s seen it…

The week before last, we at Technorati launched an experimental Microformats Search tool in our “kitchen” (where you can taste the products before they’re fully “baked”).

This is an early stage release, but we wanted to get it out in the world for you to try.

In addition to the search tool, we’ve also started Pingerati.net, a ping system for microformated pages. We’re treating this as a community project, too, in which others can recieve the stream of pings for indexing. If you’d like to start recieving pings, just let us know!

Hey, not sure if this should be directed towards Technorati support, the microformats listserv, or the hreviews issues wiki, so I’ll start here…

Are there any plans for indexers like the Technorati one to implement some sort of anti-fraud mechanism for hreview indexing?

I’ve found a lot of the reviews indexed to be nothing more than hreview markup used inappropriately without any original content just to draw people in to product pages and affiliate links. Unfortunately for most there’s no way to tell if you’re clicking on a scam hreview link or not until you try.

You can find a couple posts about this on my blog if you like, otherwise I’d love to be pointed in the right direction for my questions/concerns.

    Thanks much,

    Ja
