Sorry if i can answer only in the evening hours here in germany :)

dotted class names are allowed. But it si somewhat tricky if you want to use 
them as selectors in css stylesheets. On the page mentioned i gave an idea 
how to do that. Unfortunately the IE, at least older versions, do not 
understand that. But that is out of scope. It is not essential beeing able to 
style these elements.
