Dear Manu,

My intension was to suggest a design-patter, because i found on the
datetime-design-pattern the following:
<Can this not be viewed as a microformat in itself?

<
<It could, but inventing a microformat for the sake of inventing a
microformat is <against the microformat principles. If there is a
specific real world problem (and <uses cases) that such an elemental
microformat would solve, then it would be <worth considering.
<
<Until then it is best to keep the <abbr> datetime concept merely as a
microformat <design pattern, to be used in _actual_ microformats that
have a demonstrated <practical need.
<-- Tantek (http://tantek.com/log/)
that was the thought it would be good to have an abstract measurement
design-pattern, to create concreate instances like a microformat of
currency.
So I suggest to change the problem statement of the measurement page from
"Measures (e.g. weights, sizes, temperatures) occur frequently on the
Web, but they differ from locale to locale (e.g. Fahrenheit vs.
Celsius, pound versus Kilogram) making comparison and matching of
offerings difficult.
The Measurement Unit microformat will enable unambiguous description
of measures and as a result easier comparison and matching of
offerings. "

"Measures (e.g. weights, sizes, temperatures) occur frequently on the
Web, but they differ from locale to locale (e.g. Fahrenheit vs.
Celsius, pound versus Kilogram) making comparison and matching of
offerings difficult.
The Measurement design pattern establish a general format to create
microformts for measurements of same dimension like currency for
(Dollar, Euro ...), weight for (pound, Kilogram ...). As a result
easier comparison and matching of offerings and transformation to
users local dimension unit would be possible."
As an addition i like to meantion, that a derived format, should have
the statement if those different units of the same dimension have a
static relationship like pound and kilogram 1:0.45359237 (matrix with
the ratio could be provided / linked by the format) or a dynamic (urls
with conversationrates e.g.
http://www.google.com/search?&q=Dollar+to+Euro). Dynamic should would
get a optional datetime property.
Do you think this is a way to go with the measurement and currency
topics? Or how could an stand-alone measurement format be linked to a
stand alone currency microformat (with stand alone i mean, you can use
both on their own).
Kind Regards,
Emil
