Microformatsとは、Webサイトで人やイベント、タグを記述する際に用いるマークアップ方法です。

Microformatsは、あなたのWebサイトからフィードやAPIを早く簡単に提供するための手段です。また、Microformatsによって、さらに詳しい情報をWebで発信することができるようになります。マイクロフォーマットとは何か、またマイクロフォーマットを使うと何ができるかにある、より詳しい説明もご覧ください。

協力するには

Microformatsをさらに高めるためには、みなさんの協力が必要です。

あなたのWebサイトやサービス、製品でmicroformatsを利用する。
マイクロフォーマットをもっと使ってもらえるよう、周りにすすめる。
Microformatsをおすすめするエントリを書く。
TO DOリストにあるタスクをこなす。
IRCチャンネルやメーリングリストで学んだり、質問に答える (メールを送る前に、一般的なガイドラインを読んでください)。
さまざまな言葉で読めるように、microformats wikiの翻訳を手伝う (他言語でのmicroformats wiki)。
新しいmicroformatsを提案する前に、あなたのWebサイトがPOSHであり、すでにあるmicroformatsを利用している事を確認する。そのあと、新しいフォーマットを提案する際のプロセスについて良く読む。
